Tree The word was tree today. This is one of our decorations I bought because it’s a perfect play item (and because it looks good). It’s a large tree with 10 small ones which has so many opportunities for learning. Exploration, what is it? How to open it? It’s great for dropping the little trees into the pot but my son was using the tree lid to bounce a mini one up and try and catch it. This is great for hand eye coordination. I bought it mainly as a maths resource but he always finds more interesting ways to use objects. For maths play: Practical addition or subtraction, use with a number mat or line. Matching amounts. How many do you have? How many altogether? How many more make…? Sharing the little trees. The possibilities are endless. What would you do?
