Ice cream Play dough I set up the night before so I could get a little time in the morning. Using the pirate play dough (yes it’s grey but he won’t mind) and added a couple of jewels & playdoh items I already had. You don’t need to buy anything special you can use kitchen utensils; spoons, garlic press, straws, cupcake cases. What tools could you use? Swipe for icecream flavoured playdough. Be aware they smell so good they maybe be tasted but this isn’t recommend so make sure you watch whilst playing. . . . . .

Phonics printables are the most popular teaching resources being downloaded today. On Fridays I’ll make them so I can answer questions and share ideas on how to support children with reading. What do you want to know? DM me any questions or jot them below. . . . . . . . Children most importantly need to enjoy reading and can do this by learning different strategies to help them (reading ahead for sense, using picture clues, understanding the text, reading sight words). Phonics is just one part of this.

Swipe to see other pirate activities you could do at home or in school. What interests does your child have at the moment? . . . .

Mud Kitchen • A little throw back to last year. He loves his mud kitchen, although he doesn’t usually have mud in it, he pops in sand, cars, trucks, play dough, water beads, natural objects and lots more. As it’s sunny time to make the most of being outside. . . . . . .

Play Dough • He loves cooking and making play dough. Quick and easy to make even if you have allergies. I used to make gluten free playdough using different types of gluten free flour available so a child could still get that sensory experience. Swipe across for recipes. You can easily swap the oil for one of your choice olive, sunflower, or coconut. Often gluten free flour is a little bit dry so you may need to add a touch more oil or water. Have you tried making playdough? If you don’t want to use heat and a saucepan mix the ingredients in a bowl with warm water, it takes a lot more mixing but will give a similar outcome. . . . . . .
Easter Bunny Playdough I set up a similar set up the other day and he really enjoyed it. I’ve refreshed the items to leave the activity for for whilst I cook dinner. What activities do you do? . . . . .
EASTER If you’re still at school next week check out harrietandviolet.com for some helpful printables. Lots of Spring & Easter resources including alphabet charts, number lines, flashcards and display lettering. I’ve shown here a glitter alphabet, matching upper and lowercase letters. Practise your scissor skills but cutting the eggs in half. What resources do you use in your classroom? Will you use any at home? . . .
