Odd One Out // Quick set up phonics activity. Begin with two different sounds and objects which one matches the one you say. Extend to odd one out, with 3 objects. Make it more challenging by using both objects and written sounds. If children aren’t reading sounds then use sound buttons to replay the sound for children to hear.
️I’m in LOVE with these bodysuits. I couldn’t find anything like this when Rex was born. So many amazing brands about now. ️
Sound fish phonics pop stickers onto a magnetic fish and write on different sounds (or words). You could use this in a tuff spot tray, use foil or shiny paper chopped up to create an ocean area. If you want to have water play why not add sounds onto the bottom of ducks or fish? This way children can select them and recall the sounds.
Sand Play Dough This was quick to make, I did forget the salt when mixing but even after adding it later it still worked. If it’s sticky add a little more flour •1 cup flour •1 cup play sand •1/4 cup salt •3/4 cup hot water •1tbsp of oil •1 tbsp creme of tartar •1 tbsp glycerine This works well to stick the shells together so could be easily used in construction play like a cement. You could extend the play with shells, jewels, mini bucket (paper cup worked) a+ spade (ice cream spoons)

Beautiful prints by @junkandglitter have arrived 🖤 . I framed them straight away ready to put up over the next few weeks. If you are going to learn the alphabet you may as well do it with style + a lovely font.

Water beads // Rex loves these but doesn’t play with them as I intended (& that’s ok). At the moment he loves just stomping on them or throwing. Water beads are fab, I tried freezing them and popped in water to make a cold sensory experience. They are fab to just pour into different containers, or pop in the bath or tuff spot to sit and play. Very cheap from Amazon, they do need preparing the night before just leaving them to soak in a bowl of water.

Making tracks // it’s great to use mini cars or bikes to create marks with paint. Try to create marks into play dough with different toys. This can get a little messy and the challenge was to remove the play dough from the wheels.
