An example of one of the simple phonic games to set up. Taken from my Phonics Play Pack, activities are suitable for EYFS classrooms, Year 1, child monsters or parents. There are 40 different games included. Great idea for the start of the new term + give a little inspiration to planning for both new + experienced teachers harrietandviolet.com
Making his own outfit ~ when will this sunshine come back?
Play dough mats ~ there are a few play dough mats on harrietandviolet.com . They don’t always need to be used for play dough, you could use other construction materials or like this Little Red Riding Hood one add play food to an actual basket, or draw food in a basket, or use as intended with play dough make the food.

Meeting the Gruffalo for the 2nd time this week.
Hundred squares ️a superhero classroom resource️There are lots of different styles on harrietandviolet.com I make printables with plain + coloured backgrounds. Coloured backgrounds can help some children to read. Recently added to the site are lots of new hundred squares with counting in 2s 3s 5s and 10s. Great for an activity or enlarge to A3 for a display. Here I’ve used glass beads as counters to support counting. Link in bio

Homemade crayons // we had a try at making our own crayons. I tried it with wax and a powder to dye but ended up with just clear wax crayons so I just used crayons and melted them into an silicone ice cube tray. I’ll pop the recipe on the blog later. Great idea for creating your own theme at school and want something to match e.g. crayons in construction area could be bricks or learning about fish and want fish shapes
Moon Dough sometimes called cloud dough, just 3:1 ratio of flour + baby oil. You could change this to a gluten free recipe by swapping the flour. A great activity for a class or home. The dough can be squeezed together, crumbled, sprinkled and moulded. Great if you don’t want sand in the house.
Space invitation to play I covered a tray with foil to give a different background, re-used some play dough and dyed half black with food gel, added some small world astronauts + spaceships with a few stars.

Odd One Out Quick set up phonics activity. Begin with two different sounds and objects which one matches the one you say. Extend to odd one out, with 3 objects. Make it more challenging by using both objects and written sounds. If children aren’t reading sounds then use sound buttons to replay the sound for children to hear. I just used objects found in the house, surprising how many different everyday items or toys can be used.
